Mercer Information

This program is built to encourage discussion and to strengthen the individual's ability to bring the Christian tradition to bear on the issues of contemporary life. It is meant to provide a general foundation in theological study for all. The program also forms the basis of further study for those preparing for ordination to the Diaconate and for licensing for other ministries.

The Foundations Program is meant to take two years of concentrated study. A certificate is awarded for successful completion of the program.

First Year:

Old Testament (2 Semesters)
New Testament (2 Semesters)
Church History (2 Semesters)
Theology (2 Semesters)

Second Year:

Ethics (1 Semester)
Christianity and Contemporary Society (1 Semester)
Worship (1 Semester)
Evangelism and Stewardship (1 Semester)
Christian Spirituality (1 Semester)
Seminar and Colloquium (2 Semesters)
An Elective Course (1 Semester)
