SCHOOL FOR MINISTRY - Spring Semester 2019

OUR PROGRAM


The School for Ministry meets one Saturday per month, with classesmeeting from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Each class meets for 75 minutes,with a fifteen minute break aftereach session. Services of Morning Prayer (8:30 a.m.)Holy Eucharist (12 Noon) provide for worship in community. Links to the syllabus and registration page are posted for each course in the "Courses of
Study" section of the School for Ministry tab on the Mercer Website once classes open.

OT1 – Pentateuch and Historical Books
The Pentateuch and the Historical Books of the Old Testament, including a synopsis of their literary, ideological, historical and theological contexts. These books of the
Bible are covered in detail. (NOTE: Class sessions taught via Skype at Mercer)
Time: 9:00 – 10:15 a.m.

LT0 – Sacraments and Seasons
NEW COURSE FOR LAITY
Overview of worship in the Episcopal Church. We will explore the movement and balance of the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy ofthe Eucharist. Attention will be given to the roles of our many Liturgical Ministries. We will also explore the Liturgical Seasons of the Church year. (FEE: $25)

CH2 – Ecclesia Anglicana
Broad historical overview of Anglican Christianity, focusing on the growth and development of the Church of England, and what would become a loose Anglican Communion and a unique American Episcopal Church.
Time: 1:15 – 2:30 p.m.
